Banshee came the in 2nd but kept crashing on trying to sync the device. I know there are Amarok fans but it just wouldn't work for me. I wish they made it for linux because it just works. I then test with syncing all my podcast first, then auto playlist I made in media monkey. DO NOT DELETE THE DEFAULT PLAYLIST FOLDER that is already there at the root level. I cleared the device of all previous music, podcast, and playlist. Device config tab Sync tracks to: \Music\\\ Ĭheck "Copy Playlists", under options check "Library Playlists" Destination directory: \Playlists\īefore doing any syncing. " under auto-sync options (and check confirm deletion) checked all my playlists under the auto-sync list playlist tab Media Monkey is the best show far with no issues on syncing the archos. I settled with just using media monkey inside windows 7 virtual machine. but I was not able to get amarok to read teh device. I was thinking of playing with it with Amarok. The podcast in Rhythmbox show up as default folders in your home music folder. I believe you can also sync podcast from Rhythmbox to the device but I like the features of gpodder much better. The only function so far I was not able to do is have playlist in Rhythmbox sync with archos, so at this time I am just managing the playlist on the device itself. The only thing is you cannot have Rhythmbox and gpodder open at the same time of course. I just created a folder called podcast in the music folder on the device. You just select podcast prefereces and type of device, filesystem based mp3 player, it is in the dropdown. The videos showed up as unknown for the type but still had the exact title of the video showing.

Rhythmbox was able to see the music, podcast and videos.

I originally moved all my music to the device with drop in drag to the music folder on the device but make sure you update the archos library on the device so when it gets connected Rhythmbox it will see all the music. I checked off both, one was for MTP and other for IPOD just in case.

You need to have Rhythmbox already open before connecting the device and have the plugin enalbed for MTP portable players. I am using Rhythmbox now with the Archos5 and it picked up the device with no issues. Now open Rhythmbox and see if it your Cupertino device shows up.I haven't tried that yet.Restart your ‘buntu box and plug your iPod in.Check the box next to your username and press ok.Select ‘fuse’ from the list on the left-hand side and click ‘properties’.Unlock the group dialog by clicking the ‘keys’ icon adjacent to the whacking great ‘Help’ button on the bottom.Head on up to your menu and open System > Administration > Users & Groups. If you skip this step then it won’t work.

No, that’s not as dodgy as it sounds – you simply need to authorize iFuse to link in with your user account.

Now remove any previous iFuse PPA from your software sources and and reload when prompted.

We’ve re-written the tutorial out in for OMG! readers but you can find the original How To Sync iPhone with Rhythmbox in Ubuntu 9.10 Step 1: Remove all iFuse related files You’ll also need to use Rhythmbox (no groaning at the back Banshee lovers). Note that the following tutorial only works in Ubuntu Karmic and with iPhone firmware 3.0 and above. Ubuntu 10.04 will have iPhone/Touch syncing right out of the box but given that’s still 2 months away from landing you may want to ease your frustration now. Previous hack-arounds have required the patience of a saint and the willpower of a nun, but thanks to Damien over at MakeTechEasier your life has just been made a little bit easier… If you’ve got an iPhone or an iPod Touch you may routinely smash your head against it when trying to sync it with Ubuntu 9.10.
